nobi
Noemi Bizzocchi, the artist behind nobi, creates unique and original art jewels. Taking inspiration from the urban environment and modern art, nobi creations have a minimal and contemporary design.
Noemi, originally from Rimini in Italy, moved to London in 2013 where she worked in galleries and museums for 7 years.
nobi was born in 2017 from her rediscovered passion for creating handmade jewellery, an interest shown since childhood also thanks to the influence of her family of artisans and creatives, then cultivated in London's inspiring art scene.
The materials used are polymer clay and stainless steel, recycled plastics, waste materials and re/found objects to which Noemi gives new life as small wearable works of art. In the studio almost all waste is reclaimed for new collections and unique pieces.
The creative process is different depending on the material used, the recurring element in her work is the willing of express a sense of presence and identity affirmation.
The goal is to create unique and unusual jewels. The most important aspect of her practice is creativity.

Identity
Each piece is unique and entirely handmade. An important aspect for me, a statement in contrast to the culture of consumption and production of identical objects.
I want to enhance uniqueness and diversity as precious human characteristics that can be reflected in the objects we wear, thus enhancing one's identity and own agency in attributing meaning to the ornaments we choose. I think that self-awareness and putting on original ornaments is one of the best feeling when expressing yourself through wearing accessories.
In order to support that special feeling, I aim to create jewels that speak about uniqueness.

Objects, Materials & Process
My academic background is in anthropology and contemporary museum studies. I have always been fascinated by the human practice of transforming an idea or object into a wearable and meaningful ornament.
The aim is to go beyond the definitions of what is considered a 'jewel', to explore the aesthetic potential given by different materials and non-traditional, unusual processes. With my work I want to constantly question the concept of 'precious', thus expressing the individual power to redefine it every time.

I have exhibited my creations in London at the British Museum (2018), in New York during the Jewelry Week in 2019 and from 2020 in various online exhibitions organised by Istanbul Jewelry Week, the Precious Collective and the artist Bekkie Ora for the Unity in Isolation project.
